Meeting of minds on governance of synthetic biosecurity issues
Ineke Malsch • 12 juli 2019
From 7-10 July 2019, EPFL in Lausanne (Switzerland) hosted the NATO ARW Security and Resilience for Emerging Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology Threats. Seventy participants including policy makers, professionals, academics, do-it-yourself activists and civil society representatives from NATO countries discussed top-down and bottom-up governance and technological solutions addressing present and future threats posed by synthetic biology. The participants will collaborate on a book, to be published next year. More info here.

On 4 September, I discussed how the Ethical Impact Assessment methodology could be adapted to different types of research with societal impacts, during the Symposium on Societal Impact of Research at the UMCG in Groningen. This was the latest edition of Dutch Impact Alliance Live. Download my presentation here .
